Internship Opportunities at Alameda Civic Ballet

Alameda Civic Ballet (ACB) is looking for motivated dance lovers to join our team of interns for Fall 2018 and Winter Term 2018-2019! An ACB internship provides a unique opportunity to learn about our organization and to assist in the production of our 2018 Nutcracker ballet, on December 21st, 22nd & 23rd (three performances total), which will be our 13th annual performance of this beloved holiday classic!

  • Applicants must have completed their first year of university/college.
  • Applicants must be able to work closely with others at the Alameda Civic Ballet office in Alameda, CA, and at the theater in Castro Valley, CA, during the production dates of 12/18 - 12/23/18.
  • One Fall Internship position will run from September - December 2018 for 6-8 hours per week, schedule TBD.
  • Two Winter Term internship positions will run approximately 12/15/18 - 1/15/19, for 8 hours each day 12/18 - 12/23/18, and then two days per week after 1/4/18, schedule TBD.
  • Writing experience, close attention to details, prior work with children and volunteers, and experience backstage at performances are a huge plus.
  • Basic experience with Google Email and Google Drive documents, WordPress websites, Facebook, and Instagram, are also a plus. Please indicate this in the form below.
  • These internship positions are unpaid. If course credits are offered and approved by your college or university, we will work with you and your school to fulfill the units.

Our ACB Fall Intern will learn/experience:

  • A fun performance company with a big heart!
  • Marketing of our Nutcracker auditions, fundraisers and performances.
  • Directing parent volunteers during our Nutcracker auditions one weekend in September 2018.
  • Communicating with 100 - 200 persons involved in the production: young dancer families, guest artists, volunteers, patrons and more!
  • Lobby Direction of our Ticket Sales, Boutique and Concession volunteers during the three performances.
  • Leading a special project during the production, to be determined based on your skills and areas of interest.

Our Two ACB Winter Term Interns will learn/experience:

  • A fun performance company with a big heart!
  • Backstage assistance during our Studio Dress Rehearsals and Photo Shoot, if you are available on 12/15 - 12/16/18.
  • Working as a team with volunteers and staff to pack and load-in / load-out props, sets and supplies to the Castro Valley Center for the Arts performance venue.
  • If time allows, leading a special project during the production, to be determined based on your skills and areas of interest.
  • Working as Backstage Co-Directors, under our Artistic Director and Ballet Mistress
