We’re excited for our annual performance of The Nutcracker at the Castro Valley Center for the Arts! Before rehearsals begin, please review the commitment required.

  • Read the agreements and requirements listed below.
    • If you are a parent, please review these agreements with your child performer. 
  • Complete the Performance Agreement and Pay the Fees
    •  All adult dancers must also complete the form and waivers.
  • Attend the Mandatory Parent Info Meeting
    • When: Friday, Sept 19, 7–8 PM
    • Where: Alameda Ballet Academy, 1402 Park Street
    • Wine, hors d’oeuvres, and childcare provided

The Performance Agreement is due Friday, Sept 19. This firm deadline ensures rehearsals start Saturday, Sept 20.

Agreements & Requirements

All students dancing in The Nutcracker will receive the following:
  • Nutcracker T-Shirt
  • Professional Photos in costume – digital downloads only
  • 1 Flower Bouquet
  • Professional Videography of the performance for streaming and/or downloading
  • A wonderful experience

This production depends on many helping hands. Each family must volunteer at least 6 hours or pay $20 per hour for any unworked time.

Volunteer roles include backstage assistance, hair and makeup, costume changes or sewing, ushering, selling items, posting publicity, and securing donations. An online signup will be sent and hours tracked.

Dancers at Level 2B and above must work two mall photo shifts, approximately three hours each. This helps raise funds for the production.

I understand that my child(ren) may be photographed during rehearsals and/or performances, unless I make alternative arrangements with the Artistic Director.

I understand that I may not pierce my performer’s (or my own, if an adult) ears, nose, or any other visible areas until after the performances are complete.

If my performer is enrolled at ABA, I agree to pay the full tuition for the months in which rehearsals and performances take place.

All rehearsals are mandatory unless pre-approved. Studio and theatre dress rehearsals have no exceptions — any absence will result in missing the show.

All performances will take place at Castro Valley Center for the Arts.

Performers may not leave before the end of the performance, unless otherwise notified. This applies to both child performers (who must be picked up after the performance, not at intermission) and adult performers.
